Tapping Into Your Peak Golf Mind State

by Coach Stephen on

Golf Mind

Here at The Renegade Golf Training Institute, we take a slightly different path toward golf mind training and mental game mastery.

Big surprise, eh?

Sure, there are lots of the “traditional” sports psychology methods that work fine for golf, at least some of the time.

You know what I’m talking about – think positive, one shot at a time, target focus etc.

Nothing wrong with all that stuff, in fact, I encourage you to use any of it that works well for you.

But I would also suggest that you “take a walk on the wild side” with our techniques, because most of our golfers find that a combination of the traditional methods and the not-so-vanilla tactics yield the best results.

So on that note, todays video is a demonstration of one of our techniques for eliminating negative mental/emotional states… allowing you to then replace them with more productive ones.

This goes beyond “positive thinking”, because we are not just ignoring how you feel i.e. nervous, angry, frustrated, embarrassed etc.  Instead, we are focusing on it and using a meridian-based technique to “clear out” those emotions.

It is referred to as “Tapping” and is basically like acupuncture, except with your fingertips instead of needles.

I know, it sounds pretty corny.

So I have no intention of trying to convince you that it works most of the time for most golfers (which it does), but rather will walk you through a 5 minute routine, so you can judge for yourself.

Temporarily suspend your dis-belief, and give it a go:

Use this technique to control your golf mind and your mental/emotional states.

Please keep me posted on your results and if you have any questions, in the comments below.

I discovered this technique with you 3 years ago on the net and 3 days after I played 78 for the first time (I am 60 and my hcp was 13 and now 11). I am neurologist and I use now EFT for patients specially young patients.
EFT works very well for doubt and lack of confidence in golf, and after a bad shot.

Hey Bernard – glad that you have found it useful both on and off the course. I’ve actually given several seminars to nurses and hopital staff about using EFT for patients with anxiety and in the situations where family members are in shock. And I do find that the junior golfers are open to this type of stuff and have fun, and results, with it. Take care.

I have been using your method for 2 years with great success. I see that you have a golf training program for juniors that looks like it is pretty comprehensive. Any plans to put a program together for the “older” crowd?

Thanks,

Bob P.

Stayed tuned, and please keep us posted. We are here to assist you in any way we can. Thanks for reading (and implementing) over the years…

I actually followed this state of mind exercise last tournament and WOW. It really helps. I find that I was really in that golf zone state.

Hey Dan – keep me posted on your progress. There will be more mental game strategies coming soon…

Wow! That really helped me! I dropped from an intense anxiety level (10) down to maybe a 3 or 4. Not all the way, of course, but like you said I will try a few more rounds and try to get my anxiety down to a zero and calmness to a 10. Thanks for sharing!
